Fisseha Desta (Lieutenant Colonel) was the vice president of the Peoples’ Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (September 1986- May 1991). He was born Adowa town in Tigray in 1941. He joined the then famous Harar military academy and took advanced intelligence officer training in the USA. He served in the Imperial guard of Haile Selassie until the dawn of the revolution in 1974. He was one of the prominent members of the Provisional Military Administrative Council aka Derg. He started as a deputy chair of the administrative committee of Derg, and later as the Vice President of the Republic.
